In the prototype industry, Maybe the  word "mirror surface " that you often heard. The literal meaning is that the prototype should be as transparent as a mirror.In the materials for prototype making, both PC and acrylic materials can be used to make mirror surface. So How to choose the materials?

In terms of materials, The transparency of PC is high, but mixed with purple, The acrylic is more transparent which comparable to optical glass, almost cannot absorb the full band of visible light, transmittance of >91%, So, the materials of acrylic is more suitable for making mirror surface effect of prototype.

For the process, the PC material is hard, so the corner area is not easy to polish and need lots of time to polishing. And the material of acrylic is easy to polishing. In addition, PC prototype to achieve the mirror effect needs to use chemical agents to fumigate, which easy to produce cracks in the process of fumigation;but the process of acrylic adopting the polishing process, which won't cause damage to the surface of prototype.

In conclusion, both from the point of view of the material or technology, The acrylic is more suitable than PC to do mirror surface effect.
