The different between 3D printing and vacuum casting

The 3D printing prototype refers to that after the design of the drawing is completed, a sample shall be made through 3D printing or CNC machining to check the appearance and functional structure. The vacuum casting refers to the prototype which is made by prototyping a silicone molding and then copied in batch through the mold in a vacuum environment. So what is the difference between the two processing methods to make the prototype, the following by the Duochuang prototype for you to introduce.

1.Accuracy is different

Although the precision of the prototype printed by 3d printing is only about 0.1mm, the prototype printed by some 3d printers may be slightly higher. But the precision of the prototype produced by the vacuum casting is lower, only 0.2mm. For customers who need to do precision prototype, it is not recommended to choose the vacuum casting.

2.Different materials for processing

The 3D printing is mainly used to print photosensitive resin, nylon and ABS. some of 3D printing can be used to print metal prototype (such as stainless steel and aluminum alloy prototype). But the vacuum casting can only make the reproduction similar plastic prototype.

3.Different charging methods

To make 3D printing prototype, the prototype manufacturer will calculate the weight of raw materials (g) needed for your prototype according to your 3D drawings, and then multiply it by the price of raw materials per gram;In advance, a original edition needs to be made with CNC or SLA for the vacuum casting reproduction, and then a silicone molding is made with the prototype and then copied by the silicone molding. Therefore, when calculating the price of the prototype of the vacuum casting, we need to estimate the price of the prototype, the price of the silicon mold and the price of each prototype of the vacuum casting, and then calculate the sum of the three prices.
